Knowback Support

Contact [email protected]. Include your device, iOS version, Knowback version from Settings, and what happened. Please leave out personal notes, recordings, account passwords and sensitive screenshots.

Getting started

Tap Save a Knowback, then choose Text Note, Take Photo, Choose Photos or Record Voice. Describe what worked and save. Search can find titles, notes, tags, categories, model numbers and recognized text.

Does Knowback work offline?

Yes. Your saved library stays on your device. A photo that only exists in iCloud Photos may need downloading before it can be imported. Optional speech transcription requires supported on-device language resources; you can keep the original recording without a transcript.

How does Cloud Sync work?

Open Knowback Settings and enable Cloud Sync. Use the same iCloud account on your devices and keep Knowback open while syncing. Turning it off keeps local notes and existing cloud copies. Turning it back on reconciles changes; conflicting edits are retained as separate copies. Cloud Sync is not a versioned backup.

A different-build message appeared

Development and TestFlight/App Store builds use separate cloud environments. Knowback pauses sync if it detects a mismatch, preserving the local library and its sync metadata. Keep the app installed, export a safety copy and contact support to plan the transition. Repeatedly toggling sync will not clear this protection.

Photos, microphone or speech access is off

Open Knowback Settings → Privacy & Data → Open App Permissions. Enable only the permissions you want. Text notes and saved content remain usable without recording or camera permission.

Exporting and deleting

Use the Share button inside a Knowback or Settings → Export Full Library, then Save or Share ZIP. Keep device backups too: exports cannot yet be imported back into the app. Delete Knowback is at the bottom of a record. Deletion reaches other devices when Cloud Sync next runs; exported copies must be deleted separately. Archive keeps a record.

Text size and appearance

Knowback follows your device settings. Larger Text is under iPhone Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size. Light and Dark appearances are under Display & Brightness.

Before replacing or resetting a device

Keep an appropriate device backup and verify any exports or completed synchronization. Losing, deleting or resetting the only device holding a local library can lose that library. NDB Software cannot recover your local or iCloud library from a developer server.
