Knowback Privacy Policy

Your library

Knowback saves notes, tags, categories, photos, voice recordings, recognized text, optional transcripts and dated updates locally on your device. It requires no Knowback account. NDB Software does not operate a server that receives or stores your personal Knowback library. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK and does not sell your library content or track you for advertising.

Optional Cloud Sync

Cloud Sync is off until you enable it in Settings. When enabled, library content and media are synchronized through Apple CloudKit using your iCloud account. Apple provides that service under its own terms and privacy policy. Sync may use your iCloud storage and network connection. Turning it off preserves local content and existing cloud copies. Cloud Sync is not a versioned backup, and deletions can propagate. We do not make an end-to-end encryption claim.

Recognition and permissions

Camera and microphone access are requested when you choose capture or recording. Optional transcription uses supported on-device speech recognition and does not fall back to a speech server. Photo text recognition runs on device. Camera Lookup processes its image temporarily without adding it to your library or uploading it. The system photo picker shares selected images without broad library access; Apple may download a cloud-only photo. Knowback does not request location access, and imported images omit original camera and location metadata.

Exports and sharing

Exports contain the selected notes and saved media in an unencrypted ZIP. You choose the destination through the system share sheet; that destination may use its own storage or network service and privacy policy. Knowback removes its temporary export copies when the flow ends and clears interrupted copies on a later launch. External copies remain under your control and must be deleted separately.

Retention and deletion

Your local library remains until you delete its content or remove app/device data. Deleting a Knowback removes its instructions, history and managed media; cleanup interrupted by storage errors retries later. Small deletion markers remain to prevent stale devices from restoring deleted records. With Cloud Sync enabled, deletion propagates when synchronization next runs. While sync is off, existing cloud copies remain. Archive does not delete content. Device backups and exported copies follow their respective storage providers' retention controls.

Support and this website

If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send, and use it to respond to your request. Avoid sending personal library contents unless you intentionally choose to share them. This support website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes ordinary web request information for delivery and security; the NDB site may use Cloudflare's website analytics. Website traffic is separate from the Knowback app's local library. See the NDB website policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.

Changes

We will update this page when Knowback's data practices change and show the revised effective date. Any future external processing of personal library content would require an appropriate disclosure and choice.
